Job Description

We are seeking a Systems Administrator / IT Consultant with responsibility for the administration, support and maintenance of all our systems hardware and software.  This position will also be very involved with our small to medium-sized business customers.   In this role, you will not only identify technology solutions that will add productivity, but you will also implement those solutions. We are looking for candidates with strong customer-orientated consultative skills that also have strong technology and troubleshooting skills.  This is an excellent opportunity for a highly self-motivated individual with working knowledge of all areas of Network and Server administration.    This position is a great combination of both the consulting side and the technical side of the business.  

OPPORTUNITY:

To be successful in this consulting role, you must be well disciplined, logical in isolating and resolving issues, and committed to training and certification.  Evenings and weekends will be necessary from time to time. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Following company processes and maintaining network / system documentation.
  • Communicate with clients to identify technical issues.
  • Diagnose and fix hardware and software issues for both desktop and servers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network, server, or other environment operating issues.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and complex IT issues with your combination of technical abilities and positive attitude.
  • Design and implement new networking solutions, or upgrade existing configurations.
  • Obtaining vendor pricing and preparing customer quotes for various hardware and software solutions, working closely with our sales team.
  • Install and implement new technology systems including Small Business Servers.
  • Explore new technologies to ensure we offer the latest innovations to our clients.

Desired Skills & Experience

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 - 4 years of hands-on IT troubleshooting experience.
  • Microsoft certification (MSCE 2003 and/or 2008) and/or coursework or certifications in Exchange (2007 and/or 2010) preferred. Customer relationship experience in a consulting environment.
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 or later.
  • Experience with basic router configuration (i.e. static IP, port forwarding, etc.)
  • Proven ability to identify and recommend technical solutions to clients preferred.
  • Knowledge of server and desktop Virtualization (especially VMWare), DNS record management, and network server migration experienced desired.
  • Experience with wireless networks. 
  • Familiarity with Network Security.
  • Familiarity with IP routing protocols and the ability to provide assistance with setting up VoIP communications systems.
  • Ability to monitor network performance and resolve performance and connectivity issues.
  • Design and implement new network topologies as needed, incorporating best practices around the WAN/LAN, mobility, switching, routing, security, and convergience.
  • Ability to install, configure, and support various level two and three switches and routers.
